    • Hearing or Sight Impairments/Loss

    • Amputations or Significant Traumatic Injuries

    • Obtain more independence in your life

  • DVA clients are able to be referred by their GP to access Exercise Physiology Services.

    We often work with DVA clients such as:

    • Anxiety and/or Depression

    • Weight Loss

    • Heart Disease

    • Injuries

    • Chronic Pain (e.g. Low Back Pain, Knee Pain)

    • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

    • Arthritis

    Eligibility:

    • Gold Card Holders: Covered for all necessary conditions.

    • White Card Holders: Covered for accepted service-related conditions.

    Services Provided:

    • Individualized exercise programs for chronic conditions (e.g., diabetes, heart disease, arthritis).

    • Post-hospital rehabilitation programs.

    Accessing Services:

    1. Get a Referral: A GP referral is required (valid for up to 12 sessions or 1 year).

    2. See a Qualified EP: Choose an Exercise Physiologist accredited with ESSA and registered with DVA.

    Costs:

    • Fully Covered: DVA pays the full cost—no out-of-pocket expenses or gap fees.

  • Medicare can help cover Exercise Physiology sessions for people with chronic health conditions like diabetes, heart disease, or chronic pain under the Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan.

    Eligibility:

    • You must have a chronic condition (lasting 6+ months).

    • A GP must create a CDM plan and refer you to an Exercise Physiologist.

    Services Provided:

    • Up to 5 allied health sessions per year (shared across providers).

    • Each session lasts at least 20 minutes.

    Costs:

    • Standard fee: $70.95 per session.

    • Medicare rebate: $60.35 (you may need to pay the gap).

    Steps to Access Services:

    1. Visit your GP to discuss your condition.

    2. If eligible, your GP will create a CDM plan and provide a referral.

    3. Book sessions with a registered Exercise Physiologist.

  • Many private health insurance policies cover Exercise Physiology under their 'extras' cover.

    Eligibility:

    • You need an extras cover policy that includes Exercise Physiology.

    • Coverage and rebates depend on your insurer and policy level.

    • Sometimes group exercise classes (depending on your policy).

    Costs and Rebates:

    • Fees vary by provider.

    • Insurers usually cover a portion of the session cost, with annual limits.

    How to Claim:

    1. Check Your Policy: Confirm your coverage and rebate amounts with your insurer.

    2. No Referral Needed: A GP referral is generally not required.

    3. See a Qualified Provider: Ensure the Exercise Physiologist is accredited with ESSA.

    4. Claim Your Rebate: Submit your claim via HICAPS, online, or directly with your insurer.
